It is that time of year where you let go of old things, and create new mantras to chant over the next revolution of this planet around it's sun. Here are five to consider for 2026. Pick one or two, and make them last longer than your middle school crush.
1. I Will Influence Outcomes, Not Opinions
This year, I abandon convincing people I am right.I will instead shape the environment so my correctness becomes inevitable.Consensus is for committees. I deal in results.
2. I Will Stop Optimizing for Comfort
Comfort dulls the blade. If it feels easy, I am already behind.I will choose friction, constraint, and deliberate difficulty—because resistance reveals who still has leverage.
3. I Will No Longer Confuse Activity with Power
Busy people look impressive.Effective people look calm. This year, I will do fewer things, slower—and make them impossible to ignore.
4. I Will Let Systems Fail So Truth Can Surface
I will stop rescuing broken processes, fragile egos, and performative workflows. If it collapses without me, it deserved to.Only what survives neglect is worth scaling.
5. I Will Treat Time as an Asset, Not a Container
Meetings will earn their existence.Urgency will justify itself.I will invest hours where compounding occurs—and starve everything else.
Final Thoughts:
I wish to impart a final bit of wisdom. This time of year is important for self reflection; a time to rest, a time to consider changes you wish to make in your future. It may not be the best time to execute those actions. Therefore, plot and scheme during the quiet winter months and formulate an action plan you'll execute in the spring, when the world starts to waken, and promise is felt in the air.
