Create an Evil Elevator Speech

I do not believe in "selling yourself." Selling implies negotiation. Instead, I believe in forcing clarity. An elevator speech is not a sales pitch, it is designed to position your power in under 30 seconds. Here's how you create your evil elevator speech. Create your own, and insert it in comments.

  1. Start With the Problems You Resolve

Do not start with your name or your title. Titles are decorations, and soon they will know your name. Your opening line should identify pain so real, your listener feels complicit for not fixing it. If they lean in, continue. If they do not, then they may not be your target.

  2. Frame Yourself as the Consequence, Not the Hero

Heros need villains, and positive affirmation. You need neither. INstead, position yourself as what happens next. You are not a solution, you are the reason they have not yet found a solution.

  3. Compress the Story to One Before and After Long origin stories are for heros. You manage transformation. You can manage one transformation at a time, therefore you should have one current state followed by a future state obejective. For example: Look for confusion, risk, stagnation, or lack of understanding. Solve with: organization, compliance, momentum. If they ask for examples, you have won.

  4. End with a Controlled Absence

Explain what will happen without you. Discuss the risk the organization carries without you at the helm. It is not a warning, it is their natural end result. Then you stop talking. Silence is part of the elevator speech

My Rule for an Evil Elevator Speech

If it sounds polite, it is harmless

If it sounds boastful, it is forgettable

If it makes the listener consider how safe they are without you: That in influence.

That is an elevator speech. Mine is in comments.
